2016

  • 409 Cumberland wins the 2016 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award for Green Development
  • 409 Cumberland earns Editors' Choice in the Affordable Housing Finance Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards
  • 409 Cumberland receives the Greater Portland Council of Governments ReCOGnition Award for Best Practices in Housing Diversity, Smart Growth, Downtown Revitalization, and Sustainability
  • Avesta Housing wins Best Property Manager in the Phoenix "Best of Portland" awards
  • Avesta Housing receives STRIVE U's Community Partnership Award

2014


  • Avesta Housing receives the Outstanding Community Partner award from Community Financial Literacy.
  • The Portland Fire Department recognizes Avesta Housing at its annual awards ceremony for allowing the department to utilize vacant buildings slated for demolition for training exercises.
  • Hyacinth Place wins a 2014 Preservation Award from Portland Landmarks
  • Hyacinth Place wins a 2014 Honor Award from Maine Preservation for Adaptive Use

  • Oak Street Lofts in Portland, Maine, wins the 2013 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in Green Housing

  • Oak Street Lofts, Park Street School and Emery School named 2012 Notable Projects by the Maine Real Estate and Development Association
  • Park Street School named a finalist in Affordable Housing Finance Magazine's Readers' Choice Awards in the category of Rural Housing
  • Avesta Housing named a top 50 Affordable Housing Developer by Affordable Housing Finance Magazine (see page 48)
  • Bayside Anchor, for which Avesta is serving as the development consultant, wins Deutsche Bank and Enterprise Community Partners's "Lowering the Cost of Housing Competition"

2012

  • U.S. Green Building Council names Avesta Housing the 2012 Outstanding Affordable Developer for Oak Street Lofts, a LEED Platinum-certified housing project in Portland, Maine
  • TD Charitable Foundation donates $25,000 to Avesta Housing's Home Ownership Center
  • Bangor Savings Bank provides $15,000 to Avesta Housing's Home Ownership Center
  • Bank of America Charitable Foundation awards $20,000 to Avesta Housing's Home Ownership Center
  • Norway Savings Bank provides financial support to Avesta Housing's Home Ownership Center
  • NeighborWorks America awards Avesta Housing $277,100 in support of its efforts to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to Maine families in need.

2011

  • US Green Building Council has selected Avesta Housing’s Pearl Place as one of ten projects nation-wide to participate in a new pilot project-based learning initiative. The initiative will allow practitioners to learn from real LEED experiences. The projects will be featured at the 2012 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Toronto.
  • NeighborWorks America has awarded Avesta Housing $245,500 in support of its efforts to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to Maine families in need.
  • Florence House received an Honorable Mention award in the 17th Annual Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards

2010

  • $100,000 Housing for Everyone Grant awarded by TD Charitable Foundation
  • Florence House named Finalist in Affordable Housing Finance magazine's 2010 Readers' Choice Award for Special Needs Housing
