Rep. Michael Carey Appointed to Avesta Housing Board of Directors

April 28, 2010 - Avesta Housing announces the appointment of Maine State Representative Michael Carey to the Avesta Housing Board of Directors. Representing Lewiston in the Maine State House of Representatives, Rep. Carey has professional experience in Real Estate Development and Information Technology. Rep. Carey holds a BA in History from Dartmouth College and is currently attending Maine Law School.

Avesta Housing is the largest affordable housing nonprofit organization in Maine, annually providing housing assistance to over 2,800 households in need. Maintaining an administrative headquarters in Portland, Avesta is led by a volunteer Board of fifteen Directors drawing from backgrounds in banking, business, public, community, social service and housing organizations. Avesta Housing is a member of the NeighborWorks organization.

Avesta Housing’s mission is to promote and provide housing opportunities primarily to Southern Maine people in need. Avesta advocates for affordable housing, develops and manages high quality housing, and helps residents access other needed services.
