Avesta Receives Financing for Oak Street Project in Portland

Avesta Housing has been awarded low income housing tax credits from MaineHousing to finance the development of 37 apartments on Oak Street in downtown Portland. This commitment follows last year’s award of $380,000 from the City of Portland to construct sorely needed efficiency apartments. The site is currently used as a surface parking lot.

The new building will achieve LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and will also be built to comprehensive green standards established by MaineHousing.

The project architect is Ben Walter of CWS Architects. A construction manager is expected to be selected in early January.
