KENNEBUNK — "I'm home," said Maddy Brannen, looking at the names of her children and grandchildren written on a chalkboard in her new Park Street School apartment — a remnant of the classroom that was once there.

Brannen was one of the first residents to move into the Park Street School Apartments, a low-income Avesta Housing project for residents ages 62 or over, during the Labor Day weekend. While 30 new apartments now fill the old building, once Kennebunk High School before it was converted to an elementary school, the finished project pays homage to the historic building.
