Portland, MAINE, April 1, 2013 — The work of Oak Street Lofts resident Tanya Zivkovic will be on display for First Friday Art Walk this Friday, April 5, from 5-8 p.m. at the Oak Street Lofts gallery.
The show will feature Zivkovic's photography, collage and Ukrainian eggs.
"When I am creating a new work of art whether it is a photograph, an egg, or a collage, I am always aware of the ephemeral nature of our being," said the artist. "Our time on this planet is fleeting; life is but a vapor. The images I create on eggshells are delicate embodiments of these quicksilver moments. Applying beeswax layers to the eggshell is a satisfying exercise in patience. The shape of the egg, the scent of the wax, and the ancient wisdom of the symbols combine to create a complex work of art."
