May 10, 2010 – Avesta Housing has reelected five of its Directors to serve an additional three-year term on the Avesta Board. Beginning his third term as a Director is Rev. William R. Baran. Directors Luc Nya, Board Vice-Chair Neal Allen, Robert Dunfey and Board Treasurer Cornelia Swanson begin their second terms as Avesta Board Members.
Rev. William R. Baran is a retired minister.
Luc Nya is the Multicultural Services Coordinator for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
Board Vice-Chair Neal Allen is the Executive Director of the Greater Portland Council of Government.
Robert Dunfey is a Real Estate and Hotel Developer in Maine and New Hampshire.
Board Treasurer Cornelia Swanson is the Senior Vice President and Regional Commercial Credit Administration Manager at TD Banknorth N.A.
Board Secretary Mary Striker is a retired Nurse.
Avesta Housing is a nonprofit organization in with headquarters in Portland. Avesta is led by a volunteer Board of fifteen Directors drawing from backgrounds in banking, business, public, community, social service and housing organizations. Avesta Housing is a member of the NeighborWorks organization.
Avesta Housing's mission is to promote and provide housing opportunities primarily to Southern Maine people in need. Avesta advocates for affordable housing, develops and manages high quality housing, and helps residents access other needed services.
