Westbrook painter explores “Fluidity” at Oak Street Lofts

Entitled “Fluidity,” the show features acrylic paintings on canvas and wood inspired by nature and love.

Portland, MAINE — Paintings by Westbrook artist Lisa Maria will be on display Friday, March 7, from 5-8 p.m. at Oak Street Lofts gallery for First Friday Art Walk.

Entitled “Fluidity,” the show features acrylic paintings on canvas and wood inspired by nature and love. Says the artist, “I find tranquility in creating fluid lines, which remind me of the soothing motion of water as well as many natural elements seen everywhere. Fluidity captures the essence of my style and the process in which I paint. My work often expresses femininity, both literal and figuratively – a part of my own personality which naturally comes through.

“I think that releasing something beautiful into the world helps bring back a little balance to the harsh realities of life we all face — providing, even if just for a moment, an escape into something a little more welcoming.”

Lisa Maria is a member of the Society for East End Arts and also works with Painting for a Purpose, a nonprofit organization that provides service learning grants for students in Portland Public Schools. You can learn more at www.lisamariaartista.com.
