Nonprofit to Celebrate the Opening of New Affordable Housing in Exeter
Exeter, New Hampshire - Avesta Housing will host a grand opening celebration of its recently developed property, One Meeting Place, in Exeter on Friday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. Guests will be able to tour the building and see several apartments, as well as hear from local and regional leaders on the importance of developing affordable housing for New Hampshire residents.
Avesta Housing, a nonprofit organization, acquired Four Meeting Place and Six Meeting Place and developed One Meeting Place in 2015. The Meeting Place development has 97 affordable one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. One Meeting Place has 39 units of non-age-restricted affordable housing. In addition, Meeting Place residents benefit from Avesta Housing’s service-enriched housing through the assignment of a Resident Service Coordinator.
In alignment with Avesta Housing’s core value of sustainability, One Meeting Place has notable environmentally-conscious design features such as energy-producing photovoltaic solar panels on the roof, an energy-efficient mini-split heating and cooling system, and a well-insulated building envelope. The solar panels generate over 180,000 kWh of energy annually. One Meeting Place was designed by Burnell Johnson Architects of Manchester and built by Cheshire Builders of Swanzey.
Speakers at the grand opening celebration will be Avesta Housing President & CEO Dana Totman, New Hampshire Housing Executive Director Dean Christon, Northern New England Housing Investment Fund President Bill Shanahan, Exeter Town Manager Russell Dean, and a resident of One Meeting Place.
