Washington, DC - The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) Board of Directors elected Greg Payne as one of six new members to serve on the board at its April 18, 2009 meeting in Washington, DC. Mr. Payne will represent the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition on the 25-person board.
"I would like to welcome Greg to the NLIHC Board of Directors. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience and dedication. We are grateful for his contribution and look forward to working with him in improving the housing circumstances of the lowest income people in our communities," said Sheila Crowley, NLIHC President. "The board works diligently to set the public policy agenda of NLIHC and to provide the stewardship needed for the organization to prosper."
Greg works for Avesta Housing in Portland, Maine where he serves as both a real estate Development Officer and the Coordinator of the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition. He has more than 13 years of experience in issues related to housing and homelessness, including work at the Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless and the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. Following his graduation from law school, he worked in Boston for five years as a real estate attorney specializing in affordable housing.
Established in 1974 by Cushing N. Dolbeare, the National Low Income Housing Coalition is dedicated solely to achieving socially just public policy that assures people with the lowest incomes in the United States have affordable and decent homes.
The Maine Affordable Housing Coalition (MAHC) is a diverse coalition of organizations committed to ensuring that all Mainers are adequately and affordably housed.
