Peter Taggart, President of Taggart Construction in Freeport, received the LEED for Homes Pilot Builder Achievement Award. The Pilot Builder Award recognizes a builder whose achievements during the LEED for Homes Pilot program contributed greatly to the program itself and residential green building overall. Taggart holds the distinction of certifying the first LEED for Homes building in the country (Pleasant Hill Home in Freeport) and has continued his dedication towards the LEED for Homes program with a LEED for Homes Gold certification on the Jordan Meadows Home in Gorham. Peter has also been instrumental in promoting LEED for Homes through his work as the LEED for Homes Advocate in Maine.

Ethan Boxer-Macomber accepted the LEED for Homes Affordable Housing Award on behalf of Avesta Housing of Portland. The Affordable Project Award recognizes a project and its builder for an outstanding affordable LEED for Homes project. Avesta Housing's Pearl Place Development in Portland received two LEED for Homes-Gold certifications in 2008. Pearl Place, owned by Avesta and built by Ledgewood Construction, is an affordable housing development consisting of 60 units, 65,000 square feet and two buildings. The project holds the distinction of being the first LEED for Homes affordable housing project in Maine, the first multifamily LEED for Homes project in Maine and the very first mid-rise building in the country to be certified under the LEED for HOMES Mid-Rise Pilot Guidelines. The project also received a Green Communities grant (first in Maine) from Enterprise Foundation and met Maine State Housing Authority's Green Building Standards. It is part of a larger revitalization effort by the Bayside Neighborhood Association and the City of Portland to redevelop the residential neighborhood that once thrived in Bayside.

CB Richard Ellis received a Leadership Award in Organizational Excellence for its leadership in corporate responsibility as the first major real estate services firm to announce its pledge to become carbon neutral by 2010. Currently, more than 150 buildings managed by CBRE's Asset Services Group are undergoing evaluation for inclusion in a pilot portfolio LEED EB program with the USGBC. Many of its buildings are taking proactive steps to enhance energy efficiency, reduce water usage, and utilize paper recycling programs. More than 100 of the company's professionals have received LEED AP accreditation. CB Richard Ellis | The Boulos Company is the Maine partner office of CB Richard Ellis.
