RENTAL ASSISTANCE

In addition to providing affordable housing, Avesta administers the HUD Section 8 Certificate/Voucher Program in York, Cumberland, Oxford and Androscoggin counties. The program provides rental assistance to over 1000 low-income households in southern Maine through vouchers that make up the difference between a family's ability to pay and the market rent.

Our comprehensive program administration duties include applicant screening, marketing to owners and managers, inspection for compliance with Housing Quality Standards, negotiation of leases and Housing Assistance Payments Contracts, financial reporting and documentation, payment disbursements and assistance with owner/resident relations and apartment management.
