Avesta Housing manages approximately 100 properties and 2,700 affordable and market-rate units throughout Maine and New Hampshire. These properties vary greatly in size, age, and type, but our philosophy managing them is consistent. We care about the people living in our communities, and we care about the condition and performance of our buildings. Our success derives from our strong desire to help our residents and optimize the spaces in which they live.
We have a large Property Management & Resident Services team with a highly trained and experienced staff of Property Managers, Resident Service Coordinators, Maintenance Technicians, and Custodians. A team is assigned to each property to ensure maximum attention and support.
Our Property Management division is on the cutting edge of cross-sector collaboration in support of low-income residents. In addition to developing three Housing First communities with Preble Street, we also established a full-time staff position through Maine Behavioral Healthcare that supports formerly-homeless residents at Avesta properties. The position is partially funded through generous grants from the United Way of Greater Portland and John T. Gorman Foundation. Other examples of our cross-sector collaboration are the healthcare programs we have developed with MaineHealth and York Hospital. The groundbreaking visiting nurse and telehealth programs stemming from these partnerships are eliminating barriers to healthcare for seniors and families.
