New affordable senior housing development in Farmington

FARMINGTON, Maine — A new affordable housing development for seniors is now open in Farmington, aiming to address a growing need for accessible and affordable living options for older Mainers.

Edgewater Village, led by Avesta Housing, features 25 one-bedroom apartments for residents age 55 and older. Monthly rents range from $851 to $972, with all utilities included.

The $9.5 million, two-story development marks Avesta Housing’s first project in Farmington. Officials said it helps fill a gap in senior housing across Maine, particularly for older adults living on fixed incomes.

“It’s so difficult for individuals to find safe, affordable housing, but that is especially difficult for older adults,” said Jennifer Hawkins, president and CEO of Avesta Housing.
