After an extensive nationwide search, I am pleased to announce on behalf of the Avesta Housing Board of Directors the appointment of Jennifer Hawkins as Avesta Housing’s new President & CEO.

Jennifer brings more than two decades of visionary leadership and deep expertise in affordable housing, community development, and health equity to Avesta. She most recently served as President & CEO of One Neighborhood Builders in Providence, Rhode Island, where she led the organization through a period of transformative growth and innovation, including pioneering housing developments, aligning housing policy with health and economic outcomes, and securing high-impact philanthropic partnerships.

Jennifer’s leadership is defined by compassion, strategic vision, and a powerful dedication to meeting community needs through affordable housing and housing stability programs. The Avesta Board is confident that she will guide Avesta into its next chapter with clarity, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.

Expanding safe, quality, affordable housing is one of the most urgent needs in our region. Jennifer’s appointment comes at a critical time as Avesta continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact as Northern New England’s largest nonprofit affordable housing provider. Her selection signals a bold, new chapter for our organization. With her proven record of mission-driven results and commitment to inclusive, community-centered development, she is uniquely qualified to lead Avesta’s ongoing growth and continued contributions to the housing and community development field.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Connecticut College, a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University, and executive leadership certificates from the Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School.
