About the Project
The third phase of development at Blackstone Apartments in Falmouth added 19 units of housing to the campus, which already housed 20 garden style apartments developed in two phases in the 1970s. The existing apartments have project-based rental assistance through the Section 8 program from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. The new apartments and the renovation are funded primarily with Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
Construction of the new building created the opportunity for campus-wide upgrades, including extensive site work to improve accessibility and drainage, upgrades to the existing utilities, a renovated community space, and a variety of interior improvements in the existing apartments.
The new building responds to the high demand for affordable senior housing in the area. The building includes an elevator for easier access and design features such as roll-in showers, adaptable units, comfort height toilets, and other features that ease senior living.
Blackstone Apartments are also located in close proximity to the town center and is within walking distance of many daily amenities, services, and activities.
Construction completed in early 2018.
